Barney is a super handsome boxer/bulldog. He is boxer from the tip of his nubby boxer tail all the way up to his neck. His head and face look to be a boxer/English bulldog mix. What a good looking dude!!! Still very young, Barney has lots of energy and likes to play. He is a strong powerful dog, but very friendly and outgoing. Barney loves to go for rides in the car and enjoys outdoor activities. He likes to have his belly and butt scratched and he will give you lots of kisses! Barney just started a basic obedience class and is doing very well. He’s a fast learner and seems to really enjoy the training.

• WEIGHT: About 80 pounds – a big solid hunk of a dog!

• AGE: Very young- only about 1-2 years

• HEALTH: Very healthy. No known health issues.

• CIRCUMSTANCES: Barney was turned into the shelter when his family had a baby. It is our understanding that he lived in the yard so it is unlikely that he is housetrained. He’s seems completely fascinated by almost everything, as we believe he probably never was walked, never left the back yard until he was dumped at the shelter. It will be an amazing transformation to watch this dog blossom into a well trained, well socialized guy!

• REQUIREMENTS: Barney needs to be adopted by someone that is relatively active – he needs plenty of activity and exercise. He will not be a good apartment dog, he needs a yard. Experience with big strong bully breed type dogs is a plus. Adopter needs to continue with the basic obedience class if he has not completed it by the time of adoption. If the home has children the adopter should understand and be prepared for the kids to be knocked over. Not because Barney is aggressive, just big and strong and energetic!
